59 DEGREES NORTH,  6 DEGREES EAST, IN THE RYFYLKE REGION, STRAND VGS (STRAND COLLEGE) IS THE EDUCATIONAL HUB OF NUMEROUS SMALL VILLAGES SCATTERED ALONG THE FJORDS AND ON THE CLUSTER OF SURROUNDING ISLANDS. EVERY ASPECT OF THE SCHOOL, ITS STAFF, ITS TEACHERS, ITS PROJECTS AND PURSUITS ARE IMBUED WITH THE OVERALL ASPIRATIONS OF VALUING DIFFERENCES AND HELPING CULTIVATE THE UNIQUE POTENTIAL WITHIN EACH AND EVERY STUDENT, IN TERMS OF NOT MERELY SKILLS AND ACADEMIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS, BUT ALSO SELF DISCOVERY, EMPATHY AND CONFIDENCE, PERVADING THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE INSTITUTION IS A PRESENCE OF GENUINE WARMTH.

STRAND WANTED THEIR NEW VISUAL IDENTITY TO EMBODY THESE VALUES. BESIDES EXISTING AND POTENTIAL NEW STUDENTS, REGIONAL AS WELL AS NATIONAL AUTHORITIES, AS WELL AS PARENTS ARE TARGET GROUPS.THE ANSWER TO THIS TASK IS A PROFILE STRATEGICALLY DEVELOPED ON THE BASIS OF THE IDEA OF THE CULTIVATION OF INDIVIDUALS AS A HOLISTIC ENDEAVOUR. A PREMISE THAT IS FORWARDED TO A PRINCIPLE OF BALANCE IN THE DUALITY OF “DOING” AND “BEING”. AS PART OF THE BIGGER PICTURE, WE ARE COMPLEX BEINGS IN THE SENSE THAT WE NEED TO STRIVE FOR AMBITIOUS GOALS, TO ACHIEVE, TO COPE AND TO MASTER, AND AT THE SAME TIME DEVELOP A SELF INDEPENDENT OF ACHIEVEMENTS. TO ENGAGE IN MOTION TOWARDS WHAT CAN BE AND AT THE SAME TIME REST IN AN ACCEPTANCE OF WHAT IS.

DUALITY IS THUS CHOSEN AS A GUIDING PRINCIPLE, BOTH VISUALLY, STRUCTURALLY, CONTENT- AND TEXTWISE IN ALL THE MEDIA IN WHICH THE STRAND IDENTITY IS REPRESENTED. THE LOGO IS CONSTRUCTED FROM TWO HALF CIRCLES, WHOSE SURFACES ARE FLEXIBLE AND CHANGING, OFFERING A VARIETY OF CONTRASTS IN REFERENCE, TEXTURE AND COLOUR. THE DYNAMIC OF THE SHIFTING, FLEXIBLE AND COLOURFUL IS ALSO A REPRESENTATION OF THE COLLEGE´S EMPHASIS ON INDIVIDUALITY AND VARIETY AS WELL AS A NOD TO THE WARMTH TO BE FOUND THERE
